MOWITAL vision for sustainability and innovative customer solutions
Our Technology Scouting Team is a central point of contact for developing first-class solutions together with our customers, particularly in the area of sustainability. We attach great importance to identifying innovative and sustainable approaches and, where necessary, establishing appropriate links with other departments within Kuraray. This allows us to leverage synergies and work together on meaningful solutions that meet our customers' needs and our sustainability ambitions.
Kuraray's commitment to environmental protection and sustainability in MOWITAL® production
Protecting the environment and health is a key objective for Kuraray.
We are dedicated to developing innovative solutions using unique products and clean technologies to improve the natural environment and enhance the quality of life for people worldwide.
The factors influencing climate change in MOWITAL® production are primarily due to the raw materials and energy used in the production of PVB resin. Interestingly, the transportation of raw materials does not have a significant impact on the climate change of PVB resin, as the company is located in an industrial park that enables regional production of the most important raw materials.
Sustainability Medium-term Plan for Planet
The Kuraray Group has set out a roadmap for reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG Emissions with the goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Scope1 and Scope 2 GHG Emissions won’t be increased by 2026 (compared to 2019) which is the final year of the Medium-Term Management Plan by pursuing the concrete measures listed on the roadmap. After then, we will aim for 30% of the reduction compared to 2019 by 2030 and targeting net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Kuraray recently participated in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating and we are proud to announce that we have been awarded the BRONZE badge. EcoVadis is a renowned platform that assesses the sustainability performance of companies by evaluating the environmental, social and ethical aspects of their operations. Achieving the Bronze Badge is a testament to our collective commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. It reflects the dedication and hard work of every team member in integrating sustainable principles into our daily operations.

Our ongoing efforts focus on the continuous development of new products and technologies with environmental protection at the forefront. We are part of the Rhine-Main Energy Efficiency Network.
